Tony Stratis has earned both his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Applied Politics from The University of Akron's Bliss Institute of Applied Politics. Tony's most important job is being a father, and as a new dad, Tony is looking to make sure the future is bright for his growing family in Mahoning County.
As a recipient of the Mahoning Valley's 25 under 35 Young Professionals Award, Tony has worked diligently on over 40 political campaigns throughout his career, and is a life-long resident of Mahoning County. Civics and governance have represented a significant portion of both his personal and professional career as Tony is an elected Precinct Committeeman for the Mahoning County Democratic Party and he sits on the Executive Committee.
Tony works by day in advanced-education technology, but also serves on the board of directors for the Mahoning County Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA).
Tony donates time as Director of Community Engagement for the valley's non-profit organization, Classroom 2 Capitol. Classroom 2 Capitol inspires students from underserved communities by providing fully funded educational explorations to Washington, D.C., while motivating participants toward a life of civic engagement and public service.
Tony also donates time as a Board Member of New Urban Commons. New Urban Commons was established to redefine the relationship between people (particularly city dwellers) and the environments in which they live, by working at the intersection of urban planning, democracy, and human behavior. Through research, community engagement, and project development, NUC can discover new ways in which we can leverage urban environments and decision-making processes to optimize the lived experience–in both the social and physical space.
